Why do we love Spring? The warm weather and sunny skies makes us feel like going out and about! But guess what – pets and insects feel exactly the same way. If you have been noticing pests like ants, flies, and even mice and squirrels in or around your Vancouver home, Apex Pest Control is here to help! In our last blog post, we shared some tips on how to keep your home from getting invaded by unwanted visitors. Here are a few more things you can do for a pest-free home this spring!
- Commit To Seasonal Checks – As well as you think you know your home, it’s not uncommon for new cracks to appear over time. A seasonal inspection of your home can help you discover and repair the cracks where pests and rodents can easily crawl through to your home. As well, be sure to double check that your windows and doors are properly sealed without cracks. Outside of your house, remove any piles of fallen leaves or wood debris, as these are attractive spots for insects and rodents to seek shelter.
- De-clutter, de-clutter, de-clutter! – You probably have a lot of cardboard boxes for storage in your basement, attic, or garage. These are the areas that pests like to build their homes in, so we highly suggest to get rid of cardboard boxes! Instead, use tightly sealed plastic bins.
- Introduce dehumidifiers to eliminate moisture – As we mentioned before, pests love moist areas! As basements are susceptible to becoming more damp in the warmer months, a dehumidifier can remove the excess moisture. This will help prevent the infestation of centipedes, silverfish, and other pests.
- Schedule regular pest inspections – The best way to keep your home pest-free this spring and every spring for years to come? Schedule seasonal inspections with Apex Pest Control in Vancouver!
